1-Day Program
A flexible full day of ski touring in El Chalten, adapted to the group, the snow, and the best objective of the day.
El Chalten offers one of the most complete and wild environments for ski touring in Patagonia. Glaciers, wide valleys, open slopes, and more technical lines coexist in the same area, with constant views of Mount Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, and the Southern Patagonian Icefield.
Located in the heart of Southern Patagonia, near the edge of the Southern Patagonian Icefield, the zone offers one of the most compelling settings for glacier ski touring in South America. The proximity to major ice masses and the iconic Fitz Roy massif gives the area a uniquely alpine character within backcountry skiing in Argentina.
The variety of aspects, slopes, and vertical gain allows each outing to be adapted to the group’s level and the snow conditions, ranging from introductory days to more alpine and demanding programs. The season usually runs from June to October, combining winter powder with excellent spring skiing conditions.
During winter and spring, the terrain allows a combination of classic ski touring days and more alpine glacier-based objectives, reflecting the character of ski mountaineering in Southern Patagonia that many international skiers seek. This diversity positions El Chalten as a key destination for remote Patagonian backcountry skiing.
